Welcome to Funny Stuff Videos
I really cant decide if it’s that no one at the museum realized the boomerang is missing, or that the guy who stole it sent it back with an apology 25 years later, but this funny story made me laugh in more ways than one.
The artifact that was on display at Mt. Isa’s Frank Aston Underground Museum, was taken by an American tourist who’s guilt made him return it.
Apparently it arrived in post along with a note and a check donation for the museum.
“I removed this back in 1983 when I was younger and dumber,” said the note, as quoted by BBC News. “It was the wrong thing to do. I’m sorry, and I’m going to send it back.”
The note was merely signed, “Peter.”
McCullogh said that, even though the sender’s full name and address were found on the envelope, they are not going to reveal his full identity, and refused to discuss the value of the donation.
“Nobody had any knowledge of it being stolen at all until it arrived back,” McCullough told The Herald Sun and added: “We might write a letter to the gentleman thanking him for his pang of conscience.”
McCullough confirmed that the artifact actually was genuine, and said the boomerang would be returned to its rightful owner, if he could be found.
Well at least now we know for sure that boomerangs do come back even if it’s after 25 years.
