If you live in Scotland and you haven’t received your Christmas card last year I think I know why.
ROYAL Mail bosses yesterday apologized to the public as postal workers began delivering a massive backlog of Christmas mail which had been left lying undiscovered in a major Scottish depot since last year.
Around 4000 letters, cards and all other usual Christmas mail were found earlier this week in a basement area of Aberdeen Mail Centre which had not been used since last year’s festive rush.
The lost mail was found when postal staff tried to move some of the equipment in the sorting office.
A Spokeswoman for Royal Mail apologized saying the “gaffe” happened due to “unfortunate human error”
I’ll say.
She also added: “Strong measures have been put in place to ensure this does not happen again. The safety and security of mail is of paramount importance to this business and Royal Mail takes every step to ensure that mail reaches customers correctly. Incidents such as this are a rare occurrence.”
So Merry Christmas 2006 and watch out there’s another one just around the corner.
