American companies are reportedly working on developing a GPS-enabled chip to track individuals, which could potentially locate a person’s position, speed and direction.

A 37-year-old mother said a “human chip” is the only answer to keep track of her 15-year-old daughter, who has often skipped school without her school noticing. Her daughter and three friends were left dangling in mid-air in after one of them drove a friends car up a stay wire of an electricity pole. They had to climb out of the car while it balanced on the wire.

“The school principal rang me about 11am to say she had been in a car accident and she was OK,” she said. “I’m all for my daughter having a tracking device implanted otherwise I’m helpless.”

“You would never get a child to wear such a thing, so it would have to be implanted.”

She said she does not want to encroach on her daughter’s civil liberty, she just wants to keep her safe: “I think other parents would definitely support it… I don’t know if it’s possible but I think it’s a good idea just so I know she’s at school.”

I remember reading the article by Dan Gilmor back in 2000. He mentioned his friend who said he would gladly put an implant in his newborn daughter to protect her from kidnapping and other threats.

The last passage will stay in my memory for the rest of my life: “I admire my colleague’s devotion to his daughter’s well-being. I fear for her future, for the world she’ll live in, if he gets his wish.”

Is this what we’ve come to? Turning our children into pets on electronic leash? I agree it could be helpful in a case of kidnapping, but don’t you think a kidnaper would remember to “remove” the chip from your child?

As much as I’m obsessed with technology and improvement this is a little bit to much.

An English court has freed Danny Hyde, a teenager who drove up to speeds of 210kmh in his car while filming himself with his mobile phone.
He proudly posted the video on You Tube under the name: ‘Danny’s Badboy Astraaa’ but anonymous e-mail in the inbox of Suffolk Police last autumn got him to the face of justice.
After police managed to identify him, he admitted the offence. This earned him a four-month suspended prison term and 210 hours of community service with drivers licence suspension of 18 months.
His defender Neil Saunders, said that Hyde had committed an act of “momentary madness” and had “learned a harsh lesson”.
Inspector Trevor Sharman of Suffolk Police said: “The sentence shows the court recognized the severity of this crime. The road is not a playground and its misuse is nothing to be proud of. Speed kills. Dangerous and irresponsible driving kills.
According to research, speeding leads to more fatal crashes than alcohol. The risk of involvement in a casualty crash doubles with each 5km/h increase, once you step over the 60km/h. On the other hand a 5km/h reduction in speed can result in a decrease of at least 15% in the number of crashes.
Knowing this I think I’d rather be a little bit late than sorry.

If he really wanted just to break up with her, wasn’t it easier to say ‘I’m breaking up with you?’

Reportedly he fled with his 4-year-old daughter Madison Kerr of whom he doesn’t have legal custody while visiting her Friday morning. She was wearing blue jeans, a red long-sleeved shirt with hearts and a red ribbon belt at the time.

Last December he was arrested on four counts of child molestation on allegations of groping and touching of three 9-year-old girls and an 8-year-old girl on December 7th and December 10th.

School is supposed to be a safe place, but after something like this happens you cant help but ask: Are our children safe in school?

Apparently one of the teachers complained to the school principal Priscilla Collins on December 10 about his inappropriate behavior with some female students. She called Jones into her office and told him not to hug any more students. He agreed but failed to show up for work the next day when he resigned via e-mail.

On December 12, a parent came with a complaint against Jones. This is when Collins notified the police and the local DFCS office. Three more victims have been identified after a letter about the allegations was sent to parents of Jones’ students.

There are active warrants for Jones’ arrest but his whereabouts are unknown as of Saturday. He is out on a conditional bond and one of the conditions was that he not be alone with his daughter Madison.

According to the reports he is driving a white 1996 Ford Taurus with Georgia wildlife tags BW6B02, multiple “Pro-life” stickers and a red paint on the passenger rear side.
Police urge members of the Public to contact the nearest Police Station if they have any information about Jones and/or Karr.

David Packer, from Manchester lost his dental plate last January, when he stopped for a candy bar while climbing the Haystacks.

David told the MEN: “It was an awful day with the rain absolutely sheeting down. When I go walking I normally stick some chocolate, some coffee and some brandy in my rucksack, and we were quite close to the top when we decided to shelter behind a boulder and have the brandy and the Mars bar. Cold Mars bars are very hard to chew so I took my teeth out and put in my pocket.”

Twenty minutes later he realized they were gone, but after not being able to find them, he returned to Swinton toothless.

Now over a year later he has been reunited with his false teeth thanks to Alan Mardsen, who found them last month.

He placed an ad in the lost and found section of a walking magazine and luckily enough Mr. Packer saw it.

David Packer said said: “I opened the magazine and saw a picture of my plate looking back at me. I couldn’t believe it. I contacted the person and got them posted back to me…I had visions of a sheep wandering around the Lakes with a set of my shiny teeth – I never thought I would see them again.”

Mr Marsden, said: “I was out walking with my wife when she spotted something shiny on the ground. We looked further and saw it was a dental plate just lying there, it was still in good condition.”

David added: “It was funny to open a magazine and see a picture of my teeth. I have since bought another palate so I will use these as a spare pair. I hate false teeth and no longer take them with me when I’m walking. It’s much easier to enjoy a Mars bar without them.”

During a random police test on William street at about 6.10a.m. 23-year-old women was caught driving drunk at more than three times the legal limit. She recorded a positive alcohol reading of 0,15%.

Strangely enough, they let her go only to see her driving about an hour later on the same street with, of course a positive alcohol reading over 0,05%.


This was probably a good time for them to arrest her, but, once again they let her go.

Three hours later it was “here we go again.” She was intercepted on Enoggera Road, at about 10a.m. when she again recorded a reading of over 0,05%.

I guess third time is a charm. She was finally arrested and will remain in custody until Monday. She is due to appear in court on Monday on three counts of drink driving and one count of driving whilst disqualified.

There were about 20 people in Doctor Salami’s when a man walked in and bought everyone a round of drinks giving the waitress a $100 dollar tip.

She said: “He is just a nice guy. You never know who is sitting next to you. You never know when you can make a difference to someone else’s life.”

But that wasn’t all. He stopped by a young couple’s table and asked if they had any children. When they told him they have a 2-year-old he gave them a blank check and said: “Write any amount you like – I’m good for it.”

Assuming it was a joke Alissa and Barry decided to play along by filling in the amount for $100,000.

Then he gave his conditions: They have to use the cash to buy a house, they can’t reveal his identity – nor their own full names. And they have to name their next child after him.

Barry said: “We decided to give it a whirl next day, never thinking he was serious – but he was!”

Sometimes is just nice to hear something like this. Makes you proud to be human.

80-year-old woman was attacked by an 18-year-old who tried to take her purse away from her.

In the struggle the attacker lost his gun. She managed to grab it and point it at the attacker demanding her purse back, but the attacker fled.

He was caught soon after thanks to a witness to the incident who pointed police to an apartment.

Footprints left in the snow eventually led authorities to Dandre Bell. He was found with woman’s checks in his pocket. The purse was discovered on the apartment landing some time later

Bell who claimed he needed “to get the money for his baby,” was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. He was released on his own recognizance.

Two part-time Police Community Support Officers were making a routine visit to a children’s center when the boy started arguing with a staff member.

He became more aggressive when the officers arrived. Confronted by him they locked them selves and called for help.

Conservative MP for West Devon, Geoffrey Cox said: “These officers cannot fill the shoes of a policeman.”

“But they will always be of extremely limited value in dealing with serious incidents, even run of the mill incidents like this. This illustrates their limited value.”

Sharon Taylor, assistant chief constable, insisted the officers “did the right thing” and said: “They were called there for a completely unrelated matter but when they arrived this juvenile became aggressive towards them.”

“Personal safety was their primary concern. We don’t intentionally put them into situations to deal with violent confrontations because they are not trained to deal with them.”

Four full uniformed officers were dispatched to the youth center. The boy was arrested but released back into the care of one of his parents after 45 minutes.
