How to put out a cigarette…and a relationship
Breaking News, Funny News February 21st, 2008
For many Germans, New Years eve provided one last chance for a parting kiss with their beloved cigarettes. With a partial ban on smoking in restaurants and bars there aren’t many places you can actually light a cigarette these days in Germany.
Apparently even smoking at home can be rather dangerous. At least it was for this Bielefeld women.
She lit up a cigarette in the apartment she shares with her 42-year-old boyfriend. Her denial of his request not to smoke made him totally crazy over the whole thing. He began cursing and screaming at her, and than, he grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed the whole apartment with it.
The 6-kilogram extinguisher was completely empty after the operation and almost everything in the apartment damaged as a result.
“He just sprayed it all over the flat,” police spokesman Michael Waldhecker said. “With that kind of a fire extinguisher, it looks like it just snowed in the apartment. It’s hellish to clean up.”
“He managed to put the cigarette out though.”
The police took him to the station to calm down since he continued to curse and scream at her in front of them.
“We didn’t want the situation to escalate,” Waldhecker said.
“It’s unlikely the man will be charged with anything. It was his apartment and his fire extinguisher. And, the girlfriend was unharmed in the attack.”
On their way to the station he said that he wasn’t bothered by the damage he caused and that he might have to break up with his girlfriend if she refuses to quit smoking.
If he really wanted just to break up with her, wasn’t it easier to say ‘I’m breaking up with you?’
