Penny for your thoughts??? Not quite.
How about One hundred million pennies.
This Monday in Rockefeller Center New York first lady Silda Wall Spitzer joined hundreds of public school children on Monday to unveil a mass of $1 million in pennies collected for charity.
The Display called “the Penny Harvest Field” was designed by architect James Polshek and it includes an estimated one hundred million pennies.
30 feet by 165, as long as a city block the exhibit is the of the nonprofit organization Common Cents’ 17th annual Penny Harvest, a national educational program designed to teach children about their value as contributors to society.
Hundreds of thousands of city students from over 800 schools spent the weeks between October 22nd and Thanksgiving in door to door hunt for pennies, which will be donated to organizations of their choice for various causes.
The exhibit will be on display in Rockefeller Center, near the famous Christmas tree, through the end of the year.

The Wm McKinley Preaidential Library & Museum Canton, OH just finished collecting $18,000 worth of pennies. Eck! what do we do now? Maybe the NYC powers that be can provide the solution.

OOPS! “Presidential”
Pennies were collected for the McKinley National Memorial (Canton, OH) Endowment Fund in celebration of its 100 years.
Children across the country contributed pennies to help
build it in 1907. Children from all 50 states contributed to maintain it for the next 100 years in 2007.
